FIVE PRECEPTS CEREMONY WITH BHANTE ANANDA
The Five precepts or five rules of training is the most important system of morality for Buddhist lay people. ... The precepts are commitments to abstain from killing living beings, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying and intoxication.
This is your chance to receive the Buddhist Precepts and the Refuge Vows for the Theravada monk and abbot of the AIBMC Bhante Ananda - Recently back from a long trip to Sri Lanka, Bhante is graciously making himself available for this one of a kind ceremony. The vows are typically taken to initiate one into the buddhist doctrine and to encourage one to follow the steps of purification. It is said that without morality and the ability to take and follow the precepts that concentration (meditation) is very difficult. Join us for this ceremony. Seating for those taking and not taking the vows is limited. We are taking names and information at this time to find out how many would like to attend. We will then contact you with further information (this will likely take place in May). There is no charge for the ceremony, any donations will go toward the Arizona International Buddhist Meditation Center.
