ONE-DAY RETREAT TO OPEN TO OUR TRUE NATURE:
REEDUCATING OUR EGO… IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Buddhist teachings begin with the observation that difficulty and discontent are inevitable aspects of life. However, much suffering arises not from the constantly changing circumstances in our lives, rather from our conditioned patterns and habits of mind. Because we are confused about our own true nature, we listen to the self-referencing mind (ego) that keeps us trapped in states of anger, self-doubt, jealousy and other negative patterns of thought. Liberation from discontent begins with the direct experience of our true nature and by replacing our common but flawed approaches to life with correct understanding and insight.
This retreat is designed to challenge common beliefs and perceptions that are blocking clear understanding. Participants will be able to experience insights coming from a place of openness and awareness, allowing them to construct and integrate a more skillful philosophy into their daily lives.
Local meditation teacher Shane Wilson and visiting teacher Jenny Haubenreiser will facilitate this engaging and interactive process, utilizing principles of the Buddhist practice and a series of questions (koans) developed by Master Jun Po Kelly Roshi (Mondo Zen ™). The program will involve short practice sessions, combined with group dialogue, to access and engage the “Clear Deep Heart Mind.”

The retreat will be held on Sunday March 21st from 10 am - 4 pm. at East West Exchange, 2051 W. Warner Rd., Chandler, AZ. There is no charge to attend; however donations will be gratefully accepted (suggested donation $25-$35). No formal meditation experience is needed.
